5-17-07 Radnor Lake Davidson co. The very vocal Connecticut I had on Tuesday was back and singing even more this morning. At 7:50 it sang 29 times in a five minute period, then was quiet for a minute and started singing again! It was in the same area, about 30 yards east of the Artist and Teacher bench, which is the third bench to the east of the big platform that looks over the lake on the Lake Trail. I did not see it at that time. When I came back to the area later I heard a Mourning Warbler but did not see it. The vegetation is very thick there. Judy Luna joined me and we heard the Connecticut again, and just as I was leaving it popped up and she saw it very well about eye level. We both saw it fly across the trail away from the lake, and when we refound it there were two right together on the ground foraging. Amazing! Other migrants were the exact same as yesterday, with the addition of one Philadelphia Vireo. But this time all were enjoyed in the sunshine, especially a stunning male Blackburnian near the ranger's house.
