Eleven White Pelicans were spotted by my neighbor Fred Symonds at 6 tonight (Mar 26) in Craig Cove in West Knox County. The pelicans are getting to be regulars each spring at this spot. I went down and watched them until dark. They seemed to have a leader - one bird always out in front. They fished in sync with each other - all submerging their heads at once as the compact flock moved through the shallow waters close to the shore. A couple of great blue herons were intimidated and had to keep getting out of the way. Fred also saw a Bald Eagle there earlier today.
