Woohoo! I reached the goal I didn't even want to say out loud that I was shooting for. One hundred yard birds within the first year at the new house. I had thought about this all summer after I hit the mid 80s last spring and realized it might be possible. Saturday I spotted a Philadelphia Vireo! Not a bad bird for #100. It spent about 15 minutes foraging around in the trees in the edge of the woods. We now have had all the vireos for TN in the yard EXCEPT Blue-headed (and Bell's). This morning we had our first Yellow-bellied Sapsucker of the fall checking out last year's sapholes in the top of a hickory.
