AI've deleted all previous bookMarks and the same thing keeps happening.
I guess I won't be able to use that particular feature.
As I said I started from scratch,
voicing files and folders.
and then tried creating or making the bookMark.

That must either be a bookmark that was created before you recreated
the talk files that excluded the file name extensions, or a bookmark
for a book which is no longer on your player as the talk file would be
missing.

To test this, start a new book for which you recently created a talk
file, create a bookmark, and check in recent bookmarks to see what it
says in the newly created bookmark.

Hi Rhonda,

I didn't say to delete anything. The folders and files you have on
your player have nothing to do with it.

Is your player speaking the folder and file names or spelling them out?

Are you hearing the file name extensions in the recent bookmarks menu
item or inside the files menu item?

It sounds like something isn't being done that should be.

If a talk file is created with the file name extension stripped off,
then that is what the player will say when it runs accross that file,
just the file name and not the file name extension. For example, Lean
on Me.

However if the talk files are created without the file name extensions
being stripped off, then the player will say both the file name and
the file name extension. For example, Lean on Me.MP3.

There's no way around it, either the file name extension is being
stripped off when the talk files are created, or they're not. Talk
files are just recordings that the player uses to speak the file
names. it's like Bill Withers not saying "Boo!" at the end of the song
when he recorded it, yet when you hear it, he says "Boo!" at the end
of the song. It can't happen. You need to strip off the file name
extensions when you create the talk files. If you don't, then it'll
say dot mp3 at the end of the song name.

I've already told you which settings in RBClip need to be adjusted to
deal with your issue. I suggest you listen to the audio tutorial
called, "Enabling your folders and files to be spoken on the Talking
MP3 Players.mp3" as I explain each setting found in RBClip and give my
suggestions on how to set it up.

I hope that helps,

Laz

Ok Laz,
did as you instructed, and still getting the same results.
Deleted the entire folder of music I had created,
and started from scratch.
even check that}show file types{ was turned off.
I am baffled from this point.

Well, you'll need to use RBClip to create new talk clips. Since you
wish to overwrite the ones that are already there, you need to
checkmark the overwrite clips option. You'll also need to go into
options and ensure that strip file name extentions is checked. Then
create the necessary talk clips for the folders and files.

Hi Rhonda,

If you created talk files that included the file name extension,
then
you'll hear .mp3 or whatever the file name extension is. If you
haven't created talk files, you'll hear it in recent bookmarks when
the file name is spelled out. In either case, the solution is to
create talk files that don't include the file name extension.

Regards,

Laz

What could the problem be?
everything else is working fine.----- Original Message -----

Hi Rhonda,

That's not an update. In fact it's an older version of Rockbox
with
an
experimental attempt to use ESpeak to read text documents.

Hey all. I have been attempting for the past hour or half hour
to
download
the latest firmware for the clip plus. I've had no success. I
was
wondering
if anyone else on this list could attempt to download the zip
file
and
see
if the problem could be my browser or maybe I am doing
something
incorrect.
The link is as follows:

Have a nice night.

Peace out1
