I've heard one can buy it from drug stores.

you can sometimes scimp on the little packets which absorb moisture.
I wonder where one can buy that stuff?
Also old boxes from electronic gear often have a larger one in them. I
don't
know if they can be refreshed by time in a 150F oven or something. But they
do
melt nasty if accidentally placed in a cooking temp oven. Don't ask, I
don't
rmember, but it was nasty.

Oh, and on the rice, if you must season, salt only as it will also draw out
moisture, but no other spices or your player might play music of a
different
flavor than you like. It does make things spicer though.

Hi Laz, thanks. Oih! I should have tried that with my Braillenote when it
got
water in it from my prosthetic eye. Okay are desincants or whatever you said
are
they large? I haven't heard of them until now. I'll definitely try the
rice,
though if my bag is wet by a rain storm and the mp3 player or something
gets
wet.

Hi Neena,

Most people just use rice. Don't use instant rice, it has to be the raw
kind.
Just put your player in a covered bowl covered with rice for at least 24
hours,
I would give it 48 hours to make sure, before turning the player on. The
rice
draws the moisture out of electronic gadgets that have gotten wet. One can
also
use dessicants which I believe can be purchased from drug stores. I've been
saving them when I run across them in vitamin bottles and such.

Laz

Hi Laz, I've not had that happen, but to prevent it, what kind of

isn't working now. Did you save your audio materials on to your computer?

I

just wondered, so that that might make it easier to download music if
you get another mp3 player. Oops, I hope I'm not asking out of turn
things. I just feel saddened for you that you lost your mp3 player. (I
just know how much solace and hours of musical joy mine provides me
with. Peace and good wishes.

Sorry, I'm afraid that means the player has bit the dust. One can't
just let it sit for 24 hours, one needs to use some sort of dessicant
to draw out and get rid of the humidity before one turns it on to
avoid short circuiting the player's innards.

Yes it got slightly wet. Infact when I turned it sideways water came
out of the usb port. It did sit for 24 hours before I messed with it.
I do believe it is dead as I can't get sound from the player either.

Did the player get wet? If so, you would have needed to let it dry
out for at least 24 hourrs immersed in either rice or a dessicant
like you find in some vitamin bottles. If you turn it on after it has
gotten wet, you're taking a chance of shorting something out and
ending the player's life.

I don't have the instructions for Windows 8 but I do have them for
Windows
7
which may be very similar.

In Windows 7, connect the player, bring up the control panel, choose
system, then choose device manager. Then find the uSB section by
typing the letter u, expand it, then press the letter u until you
hear the one which says mass storage device, press the applications
key, go down to uninstall and press enter. If it asks for
verification, go ahead. then disconnect the player and then reconnect
it and let Windows set up the driver anew. I would avoid having
anything else connected via USB just to make sure I didn't uninstall
the wrong driver.

Hello Roy,

Hopefully you disconnected the player from the computer before
attempting to reset it by holding down the power button, otherwise
you wouldn't have reset it. You can do as Bobby suggested and you
can also try using a different USB port.
[Roy] I tried all these things. There was a crackleing sound from
the headset at one point so I am suspecting the player is dead I got
trapped in bad rain storm yesterday so that could be the end of it.

Another thing you can do is to delete the driver that Windows so
miserably failed to set up or keep from getting corrupted and then
connect the player and let Windows set the driver up anew. If this
is the first time connecting the player to a Window 7 computer, then
it's something one can expect to happen about 50% of the time. you
can avoid this by turning the player on first and then connecting it.
[roy] how do I delete the driver also this is windows 8

HTH,

Laz

This is the same thing that happened to my sandisk e270 Roy
