Hi all,

I know I'm responding a bit late on this but I wanted to see if others
responded first. I like the shortcuts and use the time-announce shortcut
often. As far as having the shortcuts be a regular part of player firmware
updates, my feelings on this are mixed. The plusses: others may like the
shortcuts on their players and once they're there, they're straight-forward,
they're easy to use. The minuses: shortcuts and shortcut lists are more
involved to set up and get talking properly. (Hopefully some day Rockbox
can further simplify the process.) Different people understandably like
different voices; different strokes for different folks, and that's cool,
and there are of course different languages. There is also one little
buggaboo I've noticed: something seems to have happened to my player's
shortcuts.txt file recently, the shortcuts list got messed up somehow so I
had to copy the one I made back into my player's .rockbox folder. Laz,
perhaps as firmware updates become available, you could make two versions of
the update--a version with shortcuts and a version without shortcuts? Don,
as far as creating a shortcut to speak the remaining battery power, I have
explored this online on Rockbox.org, and it looks as though Rockbox does not
have the ability for that kind of shortcut yet. I agree with you, that
would be awesome, and hopefully Rockbox can include that possibility some
day.

Cheers,
Jim

I think most folks would agree with you, Don. As I said, it's being looked
at as time allows.

Regards,

Laz
