She needs to be able to hook headsets up to it. I don't think you can do that with the pocket mp3 player, but please correct me if I am wrong. I also would not be saving much money that way, because if I got her that player, I would also have to get her an sd card as that player has no internal storage.

Hi Jessica. Although you didn't include this as an option, if it were me, since your cousin is only 11 I would give her the less expensive 
pocket MP3 player which Laz sells.  I think it would be easier to
operate and should she lose it the cost is marginal compared to a more 
sophisticated player.  Just my 2 cents for what its worth.
