Sports England Grant Application Breakdown of costs:
Repairs to windows in Gym, removal of sink and pipework - £2000
Alterations to the door/vestibule in the gym, purchase of new
automatic /disabled access firedoors, and possible futher alterations
to lintel, to ensure disabled access continues after removing the
vestibule - £20,000
Inspection and any necessary repairs needed to gym equipment - £4000
Bar / net / grille across the windows - £3500
Restoring the Hall to its full size, including removal of partitions
and offices, remedial work to flooring, re-painting of the courts,
basic re-decoration - £35,000
Renovation and re-configuring of changing rooms - £10,000
Purchase of sports equipment including two table-tennis tables
(c£800), bats balls etc (£100), four netball posts (c800 inc VAT), 2
sets of bibs and balls (c.150), 40 pilates mats and lightweight
gymnastics mats suitable for use by younger children £2000, 2
badminton nets (prices vary considerably, but for a school type
net/posts, total in region of £700).
Indoor hockey set and nets £200
Total applied for for equipment - £5000
TOTAL - £79,500
Re-evaluation if we only get half of requested amount
Priorities:
Equipment - £5000 (this is all Sports related, will be needed to
enable various user groups, best fit for Sports England rather than
any other funding body).
Repairs to windows in Gym, £1800 – essential work needed, and has
to be a contractor due to needing a cherry picker. We can remove the
sink using volunteer in-kind labour, hence reduced costs on this
section.
Metal/wooden bar, or grille over windows of gym to make safe - £3500
(essential for health and safety and priority work to enable rapid use
of gym by groups waiting)
Inspection of gym floor and equipment and any repair/remedial work
needed - £4000 (specialist work needed, specifically sports related,
Sports England best funding fit)
Reconfiguration/renovation of Changing rooms/toilets - £10,000
(Sports England is best fit, as this is specifically needed to support
sporting activity – though this wouldn't be as high a priority
time-wise as the venues can be used for sports without the changing
rooms).
Removal of vestibule in gym and reconfiguration of the doors – this
is a high priority to enable use of the netball, badminton and
basketball courts. There are two options here, and this will depend on
the specialist disabled access information. We can use all the
remaining Sports England budget to do this work and ensure that the
access ramp is still usable. Alternatively, we can use some of the
budget to remove the vestibule and bring the existing firedoors
backwards. This may mean temporary loss of disabled access into the
gym, but we can potentially apply for some different funding streams
for this, including the new Community Foundation funding via Visits
Unlimited/new disabled access forum. They only grant up to £5000, but
this might help complete this job. We have already requested the free
audit, and once done, we are eligible to apply.
If we go for the latter option, we can use the remaining Sports
England budget for the more specialist work that will need to be done
in the hall to enable sports use. This may mean some repairs to the
wooden floor, and will certainly require line-marking. It will also
require electrical work, which will need to be externally contracted.
We anticipate the actual removal of the partitions – the demolition
side of the job, plus the basic re-decoration, painting etc, we can
get done in kind by volunteers, alongside a funding bid to Community
Fund for costs of paint and some technical support.
