Wyse Unveils Expedian 3.0
New Application Shaping Features Battle Rogue Applications; Enterprises Gain
Greater Control Of Server Resource Allocation, Leading To Better System
Performance and End-user Experience

SAN JOSE, Calif. & ORLANDO, Fla. -- Jan 13, 2004 -- Wyse Technology, the
domain experts in server-centric computing, is redefining Microsoft Terminal
Server optimization, management and performance with Wyse Expedian software,
version 3.0, announced this week at Citrix Solutions Summit in Orlando, Fla.

Wyse Expedian improves the user experience and adds cash resources straight
to a company's bottom line by delivering better application responsiveness
and better application performance. With Wyse Expedian software enterprises
can add more users or applications without adding hardware, and can enhance
existing application performance -- with a 30 percent or more application
transaction performance increase, and a 30 percent or more end-user response
increase. Three major new features in Wyse Expedian 3.0 -- Application
Priority, Application Affinity, and Registry Optimization -- deliver IT
departments with even greater levels of server resource management.

"Wyse Expedian hits the triple play with enterprises -- making IT
departments happier, users happier and even the CFO happier," said Al
Powell, product line director, software, at Wyse Technology. "Wyse is
improving centralized IT with accelerated terminal server performance and
the ability to significantly reduce server infrastructure costs. Some
companies need higher performance, some need to save money on servers, and
some need to accommodate growth economically. Wyse Expedian software helps
all of those companies."

ENSURING MISSION-CRITICAL APPS ALWAYS HAVE ENOUGH HORSEPOWER
Wyse Expedian software is simple, yet powerful, server software that
increases performance and capacity on terminal servers. It is a
cost-effective way to increase the number of users (at least 30 percent more
users per server) and to save ongoing management costs by reducing the
number of servers you have to manage. This terminal server performance
software can be installed on production servers quickly, without a reboot,
immediately analyzing the server and its processes.

Wyse Expedian has two core features -- Application Optimization and
Application Shaping. Within Application Optimization are four distinct
techniques, and within Application Shaping there are two. The three major
enhancements in Wyse Expedian 3.0 are:

Application Affinity
Part of Application Shaping, this feature allows IT departments to assign
specific applications to specific processors on any given server in a server
farm. This is important for ensuring that during any major spikes in server
demand, a mission-critical application such as a financial reporting or CRM
call center application takes little or no performance hit.

Application Priority
Also part of Application Shaping, this feature limits an applications'
ability to cause performance degradation on the Terminal Server. IT
departments can set specific levels of priority for applications, both
enterprise-wide, and down to the level of users and groups. What this means
is if a "rogue" application attempts to takeover server resources, but has
been given a low priority by the IT department, the server will
automatically reallocate the resources the application is attempting to
take, and reassign those resources to higher priority applications.

Registry Optimization
Part of Application Optimization, this technique compresses the registry,
freeing up resources for more sessions (more users), reduces user login
times and overcomes system restrictions. Essentially, IT departments
maintain even more users on the same number, or fewer servers, saving both
server management time and money.

Wyse Expedian includes an analysis service, an applications optimization
process and a Microsoft Management Console snap-in. If new applications or
new versions of existing applications are loaded on a server, Wyse Expedian
software automatically detects them and performs any necessary system
adjustments during the next scheduled optimization session. With its
powerful performance and capacity improvements, easy scheduling
capabilities, and user-friendly reporting, Wyse Expedian software is ideal
for busy IT staffs in a server-centric environment.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
Wyse Expedian software, version 3.0, which runs on all Windows Servers
running Terminal Server, as well as those running Citrix MetaFrame
Presentation Server, is available from Wyse at an estimated customer price
that ranges from $499-$2999, depending on the number of processors in the
server.
