Press Releases
Citrix Ships MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5
Benefits Include Support for SmoothRoaming, New Authentication Options,
Increased Application Support and Enhanced Interoperability with MetaFrame
Access Suite
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ? 5/26/2004 ? Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the
global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced the
general availability of Citrix® MetaFrame® Password Manager 2.5, a key
component of the recently announced MetaFrame Access Suite 3.0, and the most
efficient enterprise single sign-on solution for accessing
password-protected applications, whether those applications are locally
installed on the user?s device or running in the Citrix MetaFrame Access
Suite environment. Key benefits of MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5 include
support for Citrix SmoothRoaming, a technology that provides consistent
mobile access that is always on, allowing computing environments to follow
users across locations, devices and access outages. Other benefits include
new authentication options such as support for Novell eDirectory and
certificate-based smart cards, as well as increased application support for
ActiveX controls, Java scripts and Java applets. Additionally, MetaFrame
Password Manager has enhanced interoperability with the Citrix MetaFrame
Access Suite, including server scalability optimization and reduced agent
response time for credential requests.

?As an independent commercial bank, employee productivity and security
infrastructure integrity are both key priorities for us,? said Paul
Rousseau, vice president of technology services at Enterprise Bank and Trust
Company of Lowell, Massachusetts. ?We evaluated single sign-on and password
management solutions from several vendors, and Citrix MetaFrame Password
Manager was the clear winner. Installation was incredibly simple, and the
feedback from our end-users has been very positive. In addition to the
value that MetaFrame Password Manager brings to our organization today, we?
re now well-positioned to implement additional security policies in the
future.?

Designed to work seamlessly with the MetaFrame Access Suite and as a
stand-alone product, Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5 provides password
security and enterprise single sign-on access to Windows®, Web, and
host-based applications ? whether those applications are locally installed
on the user?s device or running in the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite
environment. Users authenticate once and MetaFrame Password Manager does
the rest, automatically logging into password-protected information systems,
enforcing password policies, and even automating end-user tasks, including
password changes. MetaFrame Password Manager makes connecting to
applications faster and more secure, and can help lower help-desk support
costs by as much as 25 percent.

MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5 provides the following new benefits:

Single sign-on support for SmoothRoaming technology, allowing users to
easily access applications and information, switch devices and move around
while maintaining the continuity of their access session.

More authentication options including Novell eDirectory for primary network
authentication, as well as support for certificate-based smart cards to
achieve even greater levels of security.

Enhanced application support for Windows, Web and host-based applications.
For Web applications with client-side execution, MetaFrame Password Manager
2.5 provides improved support for ActiveX controls, Java scripts and Java
applets. Windows and Web applications with drop-down dialogs for logon or
password change can now be automatically enabled, and new terminal emulators
are supported out-of-the-box.

Improved performance and scalability in MetaFrame Presentation Server
environments. Installation of the MetaFrame Password Manager 2.5 agent on
MetaFrame Presentation Server has virtually no measurable impact, allowing
organizations to maintain the performance and scalability levels of their
server farm after installing MetaFrame Password Manager with no new servers
required.

?As Citrix customers continue to focus on the strategic power of access,
they seek ways to simplify and streamline the user experience, while
ensuring the highest levels of security,? said Tony Marzulli, senior vice
president of product and demand marketing at Citrix. ?MetaFrame Password
Manager 2.5, with increased authentication options and support for
SmoothRoaming, provides our customers with a flexible enterprise single
sign-on solution designed specifically for today?s on-demand enterprises.?
Pricing and Availability
Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager is available immediately in two licensing
models, both of which support single sign-on to locally installed
applications as well as applications accessed through MetaFrame Presentation
Server:

Concurrent User License ? A concurrent user license can be shared among
different users at different times. In many MetaFrame Presentation Server
environments, the number of users concurrently connected even during peak
periods is less than half of the total user population, resulting in a
significant cost savings. Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager is available
at a suggested retail price of $179 per concurrent user license.

Named User License ? A named user license is dedicated to a specific
individual. In organizations where users access locally installed
password-protected applications and use their computers for most of the work
day, named user licenses are generally more cost-effective. Named user
licenses can be used even when one is disconnected from the organization?s
data network, for example, to access Internet sites and applications or
local password-protected documents. Under the named user licensing option,
Citrix MetaFrame Password Manager is available at a suggested retail price
of $89 per license.
Both licensing options include Citrix Subscription Advantage? for one year.
Citrix Subscription Advantage is a service offering automatic, priority
access to the latest product upgrades and enhancements.
