those that use Oracle, *really* don't like parenthesis in the path
name ala "C:\Program Files (x86)" - something about the connection
information not being escaped properly.

I had issues with vc++ as well. You need Visual C++ 2005 SP1. The
download link is in the installation guide.
Install the x86 VC++ on 64-bit.
