I have done something similar to what you describe using a single published
desktop and policy settings that allow you to control whether those items
are visible for certain users. Some of my users see everything, where as
others get a custom start menu and no desktop icons.

Subject: [THIN] published desktop.

Hello, Everyone.

Question?

Has anybody published a desktop without the default folders (ie. my
computer, my documents, recycle bin & also with the start>menu
programs>and settings disable), while having other published desktops
with those folders available?

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
