For HP I exclusively use either the PCL 5e or map them to the HP LaserJet 5Si. MICR seems to work great using this mapping with the native PCL drivers from the HP printer driver to the HP LaserJet 5Si. I have never found out why the PCL driver does not work with check printing MICR lines but the HP LaserJet 5Si has saved me numerous times. The old technology reference still works fine for me. ANd here I was complaining about 2-3 types of printers that are proving to be real headaches. Though I have noticed the PCL6 drivers on the HP laserJets are proving to be a pain in the rear. I try and get the users to switch over to PS drivers as much as possible. Though when they do for some reason on our check writer module the MICR line gets moved down one line and causes problems with the banks. One thing I have found out is never install a Xerox PCL printer driver. Use only PS print drivers with Xerox and make sure the driver has been cleared by Xerox in Terminal Server / Citrix as a good printer otherwise(test first-don't believe them), major headaches/problems....I'm getting sick!!! ::-) Jay TCS Americas Technology - La Crosse Citrix Server Team ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> ] On Behalf Of Jason Patten Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 8:49 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: printer aggravation well for us its a great thing because we don't have to worry about aliasing a few hundred types of printers. Our client base is entirely remote PC's stationed in hotel back offices or at various management company offices, It is extremely heterogeneous. Not having to worry about drivers and getting as close to plug-n-print as we can simplifies our support life immensely. Obviously not having to install 100 drivers on your citrix box is the obvious answer but what if you only have a handful of drivers to worry about? Then you use universal if someone has say a home printer they need to connect fom the outside. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jason Patten Sent: Thursday, September 27, 2007 9:27 AM To: thin Subject: [THIN] printer aggravation FOr the most part I love the new Universal printer, but even with that I am encountering various printers that do not print. Primarily I am having trouble with various Lexmark printers and the HP LaserJet 1022. Currently by citrix policy I enforce universal driver for all printers, but I am looking at creating an exemption policy for those users that are having trouble with printing and trying to setup a mapping for those paticular models that are giving me fits. ANy ideas on the best way to go about that or what drivers I should use? I know currently there are issues with the Lexmark X3550, Lexmark T520, and HP laserJet 1022 Of course I also have issues with various users running Mcaffee and its printer issues are always fun.
