This has been my experience also...especially when several people are
simultaneously running BO on the same Citrix server. They all compete for
memory and the same disk spindle.

As pointed out below, this can reverse itself when the user is half way
around the world (or nearby using a satellite ISP). Then, the latency just
kills any database operation.

The very ad hoc nature of BO reports is counter to good performance. I've
seen clever database folks create stored procedures that improved
performance drastically for reports that were run repeatedly.

Thanks for replying.
In nearly all cases i tend to find that Business Objects runs quicker on a
PC than on a Citrix/Win2k TS box.
Ive never been able to put my finger on it.

We are running BusinessObjects v5 on Win2k with MetaFrame XP. I'll find out
from my BusinessObjects guru what he thinks of the performance.

Main advantage I can see is that the client software will be closer to the
BusinessObjects server if you have multiple WAN sites.

Is anyone ?
Im interested to note what you think performance is like when compared with
it running on a workstation.
