There is a white paper available describing application compatibility
issues.  If anyone else could post the link for this fellow I'm sure he'd
appreciate it.

Also, have you thought of using home directories for each user.  i.e. your
application could talk to the H drive for each user, but that drive would be
mapped (old Novell guy here) to each individual user.
Otherwise it's a question of exactly what you are needing to send back to
each user that you need a unique identity to find them.
