Is it possible to change the name of a Citrix farm without creating a
new one?

don't forget to do a /recreatelhc as well.
So:
Stop the IMA service.
Go into %PROGRAMFILES%\Citrix\Independent Management Architecture\
There should be a file there called MF20.dsn. Modify this file so that
it points into the new database server.
If you are still using XP, I have found that XP doesn't like talking
to named SQL server instances, it only likes talking to the default
instance, so if you are pointing to a SQL instance that isn't default,
create a SQL Alias using cliconfg and then point to the database using
the SQL Alias.
Then run the command:
dsmaint config /user:username /pwd:password
/dsn:%PROGRAMFILES%\Citrix\Independent Management
Architecture\mf20.dsn
dsmaint recreatelhc
Start the IMA service.
As you move the server from one IMA database to another, you should
have a couple of copies of the CMC up. One should be on a server which
is connected to the old IMA database, one should be connected to the
new, and one should be on the server you are moving.
Create an app in the old copy of the database and make sure that you
can't see it when you have moved the server, create an app on the
server connected to the new database and make sure you can see that on
the server you just moved, create an app on the server you just moved
and make sure you can see it on the see it on the other server
connected to the new database. This will ensure you know for certain
that it's connected to the new database.
That should do it.
