[THIN] Re: idle time -per process

that's always the problem with Great Plains. Everything you need to be =
productive with it is an extra. Even before Microsoft bought them.

We've always had it, I did not realize it was an add-on.

Thanks for your help Greg! Unfortunately, I just got shot down b/c we
would have to charge our customers 2500 bux each for license.

yes. You pick a machine (we use our SQL server which probably isn't the
=3D3D best idea in the world) and during install choose custom install =
and =3D
=3D3D
then process server. You then have to go into great plains and pick =
=3D3D
which items you want done on the process server. You can have reports,
=3D3D batches, payroll runs etc all pushed off to the process server.

It really frees up processor and memory on the terminal server. We =
=3D3D
don't use it near as much as we should.

What version of Great Plains are you on?

Greg

Great Plains as well. Distributed processing is a feature of GP?

what's the financial app?

Could you offload the posting routines to a dedicated batch processor?

We use Great Plains here. They call it Distributed Processing.

Not really an answer to your question, nut it might get you to where you
=3D3D3D3D want to be in the end.

Does anyone know of a way to kill a users session via process idle time
as opposed to session idle time on MF1.8? We host a financial app, and
cannot log users off with high idle times b/c they may be 'posting'. I'd
like to put a script together that polls an .exe's idle time then kills
the session if the idle time meets requirements. Any ideas to make it
easy? =3D3D3D3D20 John Knightly
