Hi Steve, I'll answer this back to front. R01 comes with a bunch of installation conditions: * Before installing this hotfix rollup pack, you must uninstall the following Hotfix PSE400W2K3029, if present, from the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel. Failing to do so may lead to system inconsistencies. * Files contained in Presentation Server 4.0 hotfixes and hotfix rollup packs are not getting updated properly on servers with the Citrix Health Check Agent tool installed. For more information, see knowledgebase article CTX108448 <http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=CTX108448> . * Depending on the base Presentation Server installation, it may be possible to install this package on Presentation Server for Windows 2000 Server. This is due to the fact that a check for operating system version is not performed. This configuration is not supported and should be avoided. [#128763] * Depending on the base Presentation Server installation, it may be possible to install this package on an international version of Presentation Server for Windows Server 2003. This is due to the fact that a check for operating system or Presentation Server language is not performed. This configuration is not supported and should be avoided. [#128800] * If Conferencing Manager was installed on a server with existing Presentation Server hotfixes/hotfix rollup packs, users were sometimes incorrectly prompted for the source CD when launching Conferencing Manager for the first time. In addition, users sometimes could not properly uninstall Presentation Server hotfixes/hotfix rollup packs from that server. Refer to CTX108342 <http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry.jspa?externalID=CTX108342> for more information about the workaround. [#128758] These comments should make it fairly obvious that R01 isn't a totally solid product. In particular, "breaking" registry access permissions is kind of gross. Anyway, R01 patches some IM components and to do that it has to stop and then restart the ADF installer service. Since that service is controlling the install, it's probably not unreasonable to expect things to break ;-) regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Steve Greenberg Sent: Fri 10/02/2006 5:45 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: error with IMA when rolling out PS4 rollup01 Rick, Can elaborate on the ADF service and the impact of the rollup? thanks Steve Greenberg Thin Client Computing 34522 N. I've always avoided using IM for Citrix patches, for the same reason that you don't do manual patching of the Citrix product from inside an ICA session. You might be painting yourself into a corner. But back to your problem. I'd be tempted to try using IM to kick of a batch file that run msiexec /update againt R01 (package run external program with installer). That's far enough removed from the installer that it should work without problems. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems Level 2, 30 Little Cribb Street Coronation Drive Office Park Milton Qld 4064 tel: +61 7 32431847 fax: +61 7 32431992 rick.mack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Philip Walley Sent: Fri 10/02/2006 2:48 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] error with IMA when rolling out PS4 rollup01 gang, anyone else seen issues with pushing the r01 for ps4 through installation manager? I'm working with Citrix on this one trying to uncover the problem. installation manager reports the install as failed and logs the following event log on the destination server. What's weird is that the patch does install, apparently correctly, and shows up in add/remove programs.
