Well he did say he was in a test domain. > Why have him create the container (even though he asked for > it) when an OU would fit his bill. Possibly it would - but with him being so specific, I did wonder if he had application reasons for specifying a container. Otherwise, I would have thought he would naturally understand the usage of an OU. Either way - he now knows. I did *try* at least to express some caution over messing with the schema *merely* so that something would be viewable in ADU&C ;-) And besides, I've always had this philosophy - you'll never learn to fix something, until you've broken something. Just don't try it with the schema ;-) > Ron Oglesby > Senior Technical Architect > > RapidApp > Office 312.372.7188 > Mobile 815.325.7618 > email roglesby@xxxxxxxxxxxx > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Braebaum, Neil [mailto:Neil.Braebaum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2003 6:20 AM > To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [THIN] Re: attention active directory guru's > > By default, you will have a container called "Computers" in AD. > > However, if you need to create another - lower down the > hierarchy, whilst AD users and computers may not let you, > ADSI edit will. > > Note: containers are a type of object - as are computers (in > reference to your use of "type"). > > Neil > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: Brian Lilley [mailto:Brian.Lilley@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > > Sent: 16 September 2003 12:17 > > To: 'THIN@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' > > Subject: [THIN] attention active directory guru's > > > > I have been asked to create a 'Container ' which is to be of > > type 'Computers'. > > > > However, I can't see how to create a container of type > > Computers.
