Is there a communication error between the 2 zone DC's? Simple test would be to publish an app in 1 zone and see if it shows up in the other zone. Maybe delete the zone you added, put the servers back into the original zone. Let things replicate, and start over? ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Walter, Chris Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 10:24 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Zone preference and failover not working Nope still not working and I am still getting the error message on the Data collector. I only have two zones and they are both valid. I have tried running dsmaint recreatelhc on the datacollector and it still has 'Invalid Zones Exist' in the event log. This error occurs whenever anybody opens up a new session. Any ideas? It is getting a bunch of errors about 'Invalid Zones exist'. I punted the server and I think everything is back to normal now. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Walter, Chris Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 1:31 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: Zone preference and failover not working Sorry my wording was off. We are using the PNAgent and it is not working. It is only supposed to not work with the client. ________________________________ From: Jay Moock [mailto:jmoock@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 1:20 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Zone preference and failover not working I thought I read somewhere that you had to use the PN Agent for this feature to work... I could be wrong though, but it fits what you are seeing. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Walter, Chris Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 1:13 PM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: Zone preference and failover not working Were actually using the PN Agent, it is just the PN Client that it won't work with. I tried modifying the policy and then changing it back to see if it would refresh but it didn't help. Zone preference and failover is only availalbe through web interface. i've also seen where policies are not refreshed in the LHC's of the servers, you may want to try refreshing/recreating the LHC's. Don't think it is a priority issue because both policies are not working and all of the other policies and 'Zone preference and failover' set to not configured. I set this up in MPS4.0 last week and it has worked great. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> ] On Behalf Of Walter, Chris Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 12:05 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Zone preference and failover not working Hi all, Have Windows 2003 with MPS 3.0 Enterprise edition. I have a policy for one group that sets the Primary group to a specific zone and same with the backup. I have a second policy that sets it to the reverse for another group (We have two zones). The Zone preference and failover doesn't seem to be working, users are connecting to either zone randomly. I am not sharing load information between zones. Any idea's why this isn't working? Thanks, Chris
