I think that removing a dedicated ZDC from your environment would be a mistake. As per best practice, when there are either 150 or more concurrent users, or 5 or more servers in a Zone, there should be a dedicated Zone Data Collector for the zones that carry that load. This will ensure the efficient and fast servicing of application requests. A dedicated data collector is simply a XenApp server that carries no user load, so that all its processing power goes towards managing the zone. The Dedicated Zone Data Collector should be at the top of the list in the Web Interface configuration, as it will act as the primary XML Broker and STA Server. Other servers will be listed, but only used for failover, and not for load balancing. Cheers, Jeremy. All servers in 1 zone due to the fact we have gig links. Good idea... I may look at using 1 physical server per site as ZDC. Will look at limiting connections to perhaps 20 users to ensure they are not starved.. What are the implications from a ZDC perspective if the servers are busy whilst requests are coming thru? Will Citrix connections be slower? Thanks for the great suggestion Loren On Sat, Aug 6, 2011 at 11:30 PM, Greg Reese <gareese@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: I would do a dedicated zdc and then a secondary zdc with a load rule to take fewer users than other servers. You said you have 20 servers. Is that 10 per site? You might be able to get away with just a reduced user load on the primary zdc at each location then. There's overhead for being a zdc. You don't want to starve it. Is it preferable to have a VM ZDC solely for this function? My farm is underutilised - runs at 50% so there is capacity.
