I've lost track of the start of this thread but I found out last night (the
hard way) that accounts used to connect to the remote desktop must have
passwords. Are you using a domain account or a local account to connect?

Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
Click the Remote tab.
Check to see that "Allow userse to connect remotely to this computer" is
checked.

You could also try using netstat to see if port 3389 is listening:

Netstat -an
