Hi there all,

I'm having some grief getting a 2 server NLB farm up and running.

2 x Win2k Advanced Server sp3 on IBM x330, 2 x 1.4 Ghz PIII, 2GB RAM,
2 x 36G RAID 1

I have configured the port rules are per Q243523 and am having some
issues (I think) with our switch config (Intel Express 530 T with 3 x
535T modules).

I have configured one NIC on each server for multicast NLB. I have
added both the NLB VIP (.6) and the dedicated IP (.12, .16) for each
server to the TCP/IP config. I did not specify a default gateway and
set the interface metric to 2.

On the second NIC on each server I have configured a unique IP (.13,
.17) with default gateway (.1) and DNS/WINS (.10), and set the
interface metric to 1.

We have also added a static ARP entry to the Cisco router for the NLB
VIP.

The system seems to run OK for about 6-12 hours and then the NLB IP
stop responding. A WLBS stop and WLBS start on each server seems to
restore operation. All dedicated IP on the server still respond.

There has been no special config done on the switch and I see no
error messages, tho I suspect some might be required. Is there
something critical that I am missing?

I know that with Metaframe the load balancing is a no-brainer, but
adding it is not an option at this site.

Thanks
