Our WYSE 1200LE units rock because of the speed aspect alone. Users don't care about losing their PC once they see how quickly they can get their apps started. I know most businesses aren't that nuts about things though. The Voyagers were over a thousand if I remember right. More by the time we mounted them to the med carts etc. I don't think the price on the maxbook is too bad. it's a niche item in the thin client world. If you need it, you were already willing to pay the price of a laptop On 3/4/06, Douglas A. Brown <dbrown@xxxxxxxxx > wrote: That is awesome to hear. I've worried about Maxspeed as they were always one of my favorite companies due to their just down right great customer service. So, I'm happy to hear your experiences with Neoware. I'm also curious what you think of the price? Steve makes a great point that it is a bit on the high side and I agree somewhat but I still think there is a huge benefit from a thin client savings perspective. I guess it is only "soft" dollars but soft dollars are dollars and it all adds up. The biggest problem I have with a Thin Client like that Maxbook is that I would like to have Word and PowerPoint installed on it but legally I'm not aloud. I know that it is what Citrix is for but I'm not always able to connect or. well. sometimes I just like having my apps locally. What do you guys think? I give me vote for the thin client vs. the PC but then don't you dare take my PC from me or I will come after you. ;) :-) I guess I'm a confused man.. DB Douglas A. When they bought Boundless they rebranded and supported the Capio line and still do. I think they will do justice to the Maxspeed line. I would love to see the Maxspeed laptop running Neolinux. They would dominate the healthcare market with it. We put Voyager tablets on med carts but the laptop would have been better. Greg On 3/4/06, Douglas A. I agree with Steve about the future stuff. that can be ticky. i like Neoware. the c50 has got enough juice to handle some future enhancements and Neoware is pretty good about releasing newer ica clients. centrally managed, small, fits under a monitor. It is also very shiny. Greg On 3/4/06, Steve Greenberg < <mailto:steveg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> steveg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: The rub in your request is the future stuff. Although I hesitate to say this, the ultimate thin client that can do ALL the future stuff is a PC :-) . If you drop the future stuff, right now I like the WYSE V90.. I'd like to know what the ultimate, future proof(!), thin client would be. I want to get something that can run v9+ ica clients, be centrally managed + updated and easily deployed . Of course it also has to be neat and tidy etc. (all the usual requirements) .but it also has to support multimedia - future video conferencing via citrix, voip etc. I like the look of the Jackpc from chippc http://www.chippc.com/products/jackpc/flow.aspp <http://www.chippc.com/products/jackpc/specs.asp> , which I believe is the only PoE thin client that fits inside a jack socket. Very neat! But I'd like to throw this open to the list for your thoughts - is anyone actually using a jackpc? - what are they like? Is there a better client to deploy? Cheers.
