Exactly!
Why Microsoft does not explicitly tell us that I have no idea. :-)

Or if you specify the License server to start with the -NODC switch and
specify the DefaultLicenseServer on each machine then all machines can
be a
member of a native W2kx AD domain.

In some cases, even if you are in domain the LS does not need to be in a
DC.
One way to get around this is to setup a machine that is NOT part of the
domain and run the LS there and then force the TSs to look for that
licensing server. This works also.
It must be in a DC IF all your machines, including the one running the
LS, are part of the domain.

Not if you are in an NT4 domain

Isn't the TS license service required to run on a DC?

Hello,

Has anyone found a way to make the W2k TS License Server redundant (or
failover) when the "DefaultLicenseServer" is specified? The TS License
Service does not reside on a Member server and not a DC.

Thanks,

Joe
