I have changed the system.adm in the folder with the same UID as shown =
in the properties for the GPO to contain the extra drives but going back =
into the GPO the changes are not shown. Is there anything else I have =
to do?

Thanks,

Steev

No...you are obviously using an AD domain......go into AD Users and
Computers, open the policy in question and look at its properties. This
will give you the UID you are looking for. Now browse to the folder of =
the
same name and change this system.adm. If you are using standard adm =
file
(ie you haven't modified them before) I can send one that will do the =
job
for you if you like....just let me know what drives you want hiding.

Thanks for the info Jamie,=3D20

I have found the required location in system.adm however I have 7 of =3D =
them
all the same size and date.=3D20 =3D20 1 in C:\WINNT\inf 3 in
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\<sid id>\Adm 3 in
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\<domainname>\Policies\<sid id>\Adm

Do I have to change all 7 AND on all DC's? Anything I should be aware =
=3D of?

You need to edit the .ADM file that you are using to something like
below.....

            END PART =3D09
        END POLICY

Remember to edit the bottom of the ADM to reflect the changes in the =3D
policy section. There are loads of tools to figure out the decimal for =
the
=3D drives to hide, but this can just as easily be done with notepad and
calc.exe. =3D Add 1 under the drive you want to hide, copy the string =
of
number into =3D calc.exe, whilst in scientific view with biary selected =
and
then tick the dec =3D radio button....hey presto.

Subject: [THIN] Using GPO to hide drives...

I have used the GPO "Hide these specificed drives in My Computer" and =
=3D =3D3D
"Prevent access to drives from My Computer" in the past to restrict =
=3D3D =3D
access to the C: and D: drives. I now want to do the same but for the =
=3D3D
N: and M: drive, however the only options in the drop down list are for =
=3D
=3D3D the A,B,C & D drives only.

Is there a way I can include N and M in the list?

Thanks,

Steve
