Just out of interest Malcolm, how do you update the source SMS directory so that it actually includes the application update in the silent install? I've changed the contents of the SMS\SpntShare directory but it still insists on installing the original source >:-< _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of BRUTON, Malcolm, FM Sent: 15 February 2006 08:33 To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: Updating New Citrix builds with Trend ServerProtec t My understanding is on the Trend server itself you have an install folder for the client machines. You can manually update the engine pattern etc on this server and then run your silently scripted install against this. We only update the source every 12 months or so as the pattern updates and engine updates work very well on client machines anyway. We rebuild boxes every week using scripted install against old media and the updates happen relatively quickly. Check you disk or the trend site. Jim Kenzig Andrew Wood .uk <mailto:d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > wrote: Can I ask two Quick questions of those that are using Trend's Serverprotect on the citrix servers? First, how are you ensuring that a new build gets the latest software at build time? I would have thought that the Trend InstallPoint server would automatically update its SMS directory - but that doesn't seem to be the case :( So it appears that when a servers built it has to wait for the normal update cycle to kick in - is that right? Also, I've got a quarterly patch to apply - the destructions says to install it on the InstallPoint and it will magically be deployed to the servers. But the patch gets round a W2k3SP1 issue which seems to be preventing the hotfix patching process. Again - has anyone come across this before? I can get round the problem by creating a task to stop the trend services, install the contents hotfix directory and start the services again but it seems a bit 'gludgey' :? tia for any advice you can give. ---------------------------------- Andrew Wood Sunderland Jim Kenzig <mailto:web@xxxxxxxxxx> CEO The Kenzig Group http://www.kenzig.com Sponsorships <http://www.kenzig.com/217/227/index.html> Available!
