Good point. I didn't try that. The problem I was having is the the "From
Scanner or Camera" option in Word 2003 is greyed out in a Terminal Services
environment. It was more than just getting the twain driver to work, but
also re-enabling this option.

Cheers,
Jeremy.

Hi,

You don't need to copy the twain components into a users home directory,
just set the application compatibility for the twain-using executable to
use %systemroot% instead of %windir%.

Create a key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\Compatibility\Applications with the name
of the executable in question (eg Omnipage) and create a d_word value,
Flags, 0x408. Do this for all apps that need to use twain.

Did you try putting the twain32.dll in the user's home dir?

These scanners can also place the scanned document on a SMB
share, so we
are doing it that way instead. I have since seen something
posted somwhere
on the web that suggests another method, but I can't remember
where.

             Jeremy,

I have ScanGear working on Windows 2000 and Office 2003 with
iR3300's.

I installed ScanGear first. Then ran it once while in install
mode and
             set
up the most commonly used scanner. When installing Office,
make sure you
include the document imaging stuff. Finally, unprotect
shell32.dll,
             mspicons.exe, sti_trace.log and all users\application
             data\mscanappdatdir\xscan32.dat.

             It's screwy but it works,

             Hi All,

Has anyone got twain drivers working on a Windows 2003
terminal server
             with
             Word 2003?

The particular scanner we are using is a network attached
Canon
             multifunction device.

I'm trying to get the Canon Network Scangear software to work.
When you
open Word 2003 and select Insert > From Scanner or Camera...,
the option
             is
             greyed out.

Canon say that their driver is not supported under terminal
services, but

I'm not ready to give up and accept that answer.

I have enabled and started the Windows Image Acquisition
service, but it
             hasn't made a difference.

I've tried using regmon and filemon with no luck.

Has anyone had success doing this with other network attached
scanners?

             Cheers.

             Kind regards,
