Subject: [THIN] Re: To Remap or not to remap?

I have seen several strange problems that have only occurred in remapped
environments, (even with new servers built with the same process as
non-remapped servers). While that doesn't mean that remapping caused
the problems, I have not seen them in non-remapped environments.

Now, I should add that I don't see these problems in every remapped
environment, but every time I see these problems they occur in remapped
environments.

Plus, regardless of what Citrix says, I think the fact that they pulled
the remap utility from the installation program speaks volumes.

The problems that I've seen:

(1) Citrix XML service will not share a port with IIS.
(2) NFuse Agent client will not load the XML file unless you manually
open it once with IE.
(3) NFuse page hands out html files instead of ICA file.

..plus several more that I can't think of right now.

Bottom line for me: I've worked in plenty of environments where
remapping was used without problems. However, I've seen enough weird
things that I 'officially' don't recommend remapping to me clients
anymore.

Subject: [THIN] To Remap or not to remap?

I had decided that when I rebuilt our Citrix server to remap the server
=3D drive letters to M: and N: so that when fat clients login their =
local
=3D drives are mapped to C: and D:. At the moment they map to V: W: =
which
=3D does confuse the users (not hard to do).

I have been doing alot of research and reading about setting up Citrix =
=3D
and for the second time have noted that the remapping of server drives =
=3D
is "not recommended". In neither place does it say why is it not =3D
recommended.

So my question to you is, why is it not recommended?
