Right, should have extended the example, that is what is happens when you post in the middle of doing ten other things and helping clients.... A good example is if you have a problematic printer (large scale office copier, scanner, fax, stapler, etc.) and the client is a low end thin client device. In this cases, the driver does not work on Metaframe, there is no support in the terminal for the printer or for a Universal print driver, so, you have to have a third machine which processes the print job, i.e. the ThinPrint gateway running the printers native driver and communicating with the printer via the remote LAN.... What print driver? With Simplify Printing (Screwdrivers), none of the MF servers need ANY print drivers .. No, not one ... to be able to print via redirection back to the client. That's the whole point. While redirecting to a gateway server can be an advantage in some environments, the reason you give doesn't really illustrate what those are. ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - Emergent Online Essential Thin Client Utilities.
