        Are these laptops that don't always have an A or B drive?

I have a few clients with this problem.

When they click File\Open in Excel or Word, etc.  They get an error:

Shadow Indicator - \\Remote:wfica32.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive A:.

This occurs even though they are not clicking on a$.  

(I remap the client's A$ and C$ to be A and C and no other users report this
problem)

Any clues?
