A couple of registry tweaks are needed to correct the problem with CMC showing disconnected sessions as active, see http://thethin.net/faqs2.cfm?id=433&category=3&sortby=date As to the IMA error message, I presume you have already checked for network problems like poor cabling, ;) ,and ensured the SQL services are running correctly? -----Original Message----- From: JClewitt@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:JClewitt@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 24 July 2003 14:21 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] The Citrix MetaFrame Server failed to connect to the Data Store I am experiencing problems with my XP Farm. Every now and then through the Management console one or two of the servers will not display the users logged onto it. If you look at all the serves user list it will display the users connected to that server (although this info has proved inaccurate) an error message may be displayed 'The Citrix MetaFrame Server failed to connect to the Data Store. Error - IMA_RESULT_DBCONNECT_FAILURE The database is down or there is a network failure.' When the problem occurs there if often an issue of a users trying to reconnect to a lost session, there original session has a status of active but it is not, it should be in a state of disconnect. So when they reconnect they get a new session, often of the same server. Weather this is cause or effect I am not sure. The problem only started happening after we did some upgrading to your environment, namely. Upgrades below. From Citrix SP1 to SP2 From Citrix FR1 to FR2 From W2K SP2 to SP3 Our data store on a Separate SQL box that has not been touched at that stage. It has always been a bit hit and miss wither the users would be reconnected to there original session if there where in disconnect, but we where informed this would be fixed by performing the upgrade above, it has however just caused more problems. The environment. We operate in a full desktop replacement no published apps. 3 Front end Dell Power Edge 1650 PIII 1400 MHz 4Gig of ram 2 Risk servers for doggie apps 16 bit etc. used to pass trough to front end serves. Citrix SP2 FR2 W2K 2000 SP3 There are also some Q fixes on this boxes. Operation in an NT Domain The three front end server are closed from the same image, Power Quest Drive Image Pro 4. And a very regimented imaging process of sopping service and deleting some reg keys etc is followed I can haply post this process. Any advice would be appreciated.
