Don't get me wrong. I am no Symantec fan boy.....I have used MacAfee and trend
in the past and have tested Kaspersky in the past. It's a very effective
product. Management leaves a lot to be desired so for enterprise environments I
cannot recommend it.

I would concur with this totally - always cringe when I see Symantec but Sophos
is always been great. Sophos support has always been top notch.

Tried switching to latest Symantec, took us 2 months of struggle to get to the
point of "Never again", nuking it, and restarting with Sophos - despite having
bought the Symantec product. Sophos, in contrast, dream-like ease of use, just
installed, just worked. Lovely.

I agree on the Symantec support comment. I haven't seen any major issues with
Symantec as long as we keep the Symevent Driver updated.
We use version 10.1.7.7000

I've would stay away from Symantec. Their filter drivers are horrible and
unstable. On top of that, their support is pretty bad.

Dear all,

We use Symantec antivirus (corporate edition 10.1). An excellent choice to scan
files and mail.
Might consume ressources on files servers with lots of file changes but all
considered works fine
in CTX environments (we have roughly 50 of them). The foot print is acceptable,
the client can be installed managed or unmanaged
though we use managed, with one server for central scheduling/updating and
reporting.
Never needed any support, in the past was a bit nasty in upgrade processes (
from Norton 7 to 8,), but
thiere supportpages kind of reports the best way to proceed in case of issues.
There are nowadays also
good removal tools so modifying the registry is more or less a thing of the
past.

Never used any other tool, but for me on a scale of ease of use and management
overhead scores pretty well.

Regards,

Stefan

Subject: [THIN] The Anti-Virus Question (again!)
Hi all,

I've asked this before... but can anyone recommend the "best" AV both for
Citrix and "the rest of the enterprise".

i.e.: low footprint, simplicity to manage etc.

We're currently with F-Secure, licensed by user - so we can have clients
installed on as many servers & workstations as necessary.

We've found F-Secure to be quite "sluggish" and memory hungry and are looking
at alternatives.

I'm currently testing Kaspersky, which I've heard good things about, and so far
it's running OK - but I'd like to know recommendations on the "best" solution
from the community.

Any help gratefully received, as ever.

Cheers.
