Hi Rob, Non win32 clients can't handle CALs themselves, so what happens is that the Metaframe servers handle the TS CALS for the dumb clients. So if a TSCAL expires, the Wyse chippc device attaches to a metaframe server, that passes the expired ts CAL to the license server. The CAL gets rejected and you're dead. The only way out is hacking the MSLicensing info on the maetaframe servers. I've got a more detailed description somewhere, just can't find it at the moment. Sorry. The procedure is essentially the same as deleting an expired TS CAL from a PC by deleting the mslicensing key. This occurs when expired TS licenses are not being freed after the expire date has been reached. This resulted in the clients of the expired licenses (with Wyse 3125SE and ChipPc 4010) not being able to log on even with enough TS licenses available. they can't log on because they are listed as expired in the license DB.....the license DB doesn't work properlyin these cases The whole server environment is SP3 so all TS lics have expire dates behind it. I'm just wondering if any one has seen this before cause it's something that made me wonder...the only way to release the expired lics is to add lics by calling the clearing house. The clearing house admitted that the problem occured more frequently and their only solution was to deinstall the licensing service and reinstall in again....I objected of course stating our customers are healthcare and 24/7.....so thay gave me some new licenses after which the expired licenses suddenly got released. It all seems very weird to me......hope it ain't no new bug surfacing in SP3..... grx Rob Beekmans ******************************************************** This Week's Sponsor - ThinPrint Simply the best print solution for Microsoft Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe. http://www.thinprint.com/ ********************************************************** For Archives, to Unsubscribe, Subscribe or set Digest or Vacation mode use the below link: http://thethin.net/citrixlist.cfm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The information contained in this e-mail is confidential and may be subject to legal professional privilege.
