Sounds like your users are logging in to the same Terminal Server from more than one workstation. TSE Cals are machine based not user based. Dave indicated the identifying factor may be the machine name. It might be on WIn9X, but it also may be the SID on NT and Win2K. -----Original Message----- From: Fred Pabia [mailto:FPabia@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 11:51 AM To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [THIN] Re: TSCAL Then, is this something I should be concern with? -----Original Message----- From: Dave.Boatman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Dave.Boatman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 9:54 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: TSCAL As I understand it the machine itself is checked to see if it holds a = CAL. If it doesn't then one is issued (assuming non W2K or XP machines). You could have a situation where CALS are issued to different machines but = with the same name.. especially if the name is really generic = "W2KWRKSTATION".=20 You could prove that this is the case by doing some scripting on login = to obtain the machine name,IP address and the user name that they logged in with (along with date and time) and write this to a log file. I'd keep = the size of the logfile small else it could slow down the login process. I = do a similar thing for our licensing people.=20 Dave Boatman=20 -----Original Message----- From: Fred Pabia [mailto:FPabia@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: 10 October 2002 16:05 To: Thin Forum (E-mail) Subject: [THIN] TSCAL Are Terminal Server CAL's issued to clients based on their computer = name. I see multiple instances of CAL's issued to the same computer name on the License Server? Is this correct? Frederick R.
