not to mention companies that reject the email and return the original =

then the virus email starts bouncing around.

I don't really care if the list allows attachments or not - anyone who
allows e-mail attachments through to users without checking them very
thoroughly for "nasties" IS going to get hit. You simply cannot rely =
=3D
all
your users not to open attachments so you have to protect your system =
=3D
from
"careless" users.

I agree that since viruses started spoofing their "from" address "you =
=3D
have
sent us a virus" messages have become almost as big a pain in the @ss =
=3D
as the
viruses themselves. We got hammered by them thanks to SoBig last year =
=3D
- we
got thousands of the dammed things. Unfortunately when it first hit I =
=3D
was
away at TechEd so it totally confused many of our users and had the =3D
helldesk
phone running red hot. Soon set up a filter to dump the messages at =3D
our
e-mail gateway but still a pain ...

The list settings are supposedly set to NOT allow attachments... I =3D
don't
know WTF the problem is with Freelists....
It just pisses me off. I just got 500 fricking emails saying I have a
virus(which of course I don't). I wish people would turn that crap off
because it just serves to confuse people more and cause more traffic =
=3D
on the
web.

This should be reason enough to not allow attachments
Malicious users don't even need a mass mailer to distribute these
viruses with a system such as this

Norton AntiVirus removed the attachment: doc.zip.
The attachment was infected with the W32.Mydoom.A@mm virus.
