[THIN] Re: Spooler hangs

I don't think this what is causing the problem below, but here is a 
follow-up to the last post.

We actually had the same problem on Win2K, Metaframe XPe and older versions 
of the client with users hanging the spoolers.  Clients before 6.2 seemed to 
have speed issues with printing for us that didn't exist using the RDP 
client.  If a user logged out before the print job was complete, it waited 
for the remainnig part of the job and hung the client/printer.

We worked it from several directions.  Stopping/starting the spooler service 
and deleting the printer or creating scripts that removed the spool files.  
We also worked on setting up alerts that would run a script to clear out the 
spooler files if a certain number of print jobs were in the queue since that 
generally pointed to a hung spooler.

The newer clients allowed for printing to work faster which solved most of 
our issues.  The other note is that FR2 supports clearing the print queues 
when a user logs of the box.  That took care of it for us.
