However, on a pure technical level, Softricity has done something quite
unique that is a "better mousetrap"...

Uh.... softricity "competitors" come to mind, like appstream. Of course they
try to compete with Citrix. Told one of my clients that performance over a
WAN was better with their product!!!!!! I almost fell out of my chair seeing
how this company was centralizing their data.

Anyway there are other LIKE technologies.

Keep in mind to the Installation Manager can push packaged installations out
to the farm. While this is not quite what Softricity does, a few extensions
to that technology and they could mimick *some* of the benefits...

True but they ARE looking at doing something like it. if it weren't for NDA
from a customer forum I attended I'd elaborate. JK

Those rumors were around before FR3 came out, but there was nothing to it. I
thought the rumors had died down. From first hand experience, I can tell
you that it would be a major undertaking for Citrix, one that would be
difficult to keep quiet.

As to experience, I'd be biased. But there are several others on this list
with objective experience.

I have heard rumors which at this point are totally unfounded, thus the
reason I am throwing this out here, about the features that Softricity
provides being included in the next release of Citrix (sandbox?). Can
anybody confirm or deny these rumors?

I also wouldn't mind some feedback about first hand experience with the
Softricity product, if anybody is willing to discuss it.

Thanks,

Dennis Pa
