SAS technically is SCSI, just different.

Serial Attached SCSI.

I personally will miss SCSI. The technology has been around so long that
it is hard to image it gone (if it actually does go away). I just bought
4 new Dell 1950 servers and they came with SAS. These servers are not
load yet but so far they seem to be working ok.

Just because Dell is willing to stake confidence in it doesn't mean I
would. On the contrary, it would probably make me think otherwise. I
really dislike having to work with Dell servers, especially when
compared to the Proliant series. If it was adopted for the Proliant
series, then it would get my attention. Knowing Dell, they are probably
adopting it because they got an inexpensive buy-in and are backing it as
a cost-cutting measure, not because it is better technology. I could be
wrong because I haven't kept up with emerging hardware in a while. One
thing I do know....Dell servers are weak sauce.
