Too much chatter???
The first 'S' stands for 'Serial', sounds like a bottle-neck to me.
Obviously the vendors are pushing what gets them the best mark-up,
not what is best for us the admin's nor for the users.
Dell makes that *very* clear.

Just because Dell is willing to stake confidence in it doesn't mean I
would. On the contrary, it would probably make me think otherwise. I
really dislike having to work with Dell servers, especially when
compared to the Proliant series. If it was adopted for the Proliant
series, then it would get my attention. Knowing Dell, they are probably
adopting it because they got an inexpensive buy-in and are backing it as
a cost-cutting measure, not because it is better technology. I could be
wrong because I haven't kept up with emerging hardware in a while. One
thing I do know....Dell servers are weak sauce.

There was a bit of a debate going a few weeks ago re: SATA\SAS vs. SCSI
that was pretty interesting. I may be incorrect but our Dell rep just
told us that though they will support SCSI still they will stop selling
SCSI in a couple of months. Have other people heard the same thing?
What they are pushing on server end is not SATA but SAS which they
explain as actually being SCSI drives with enhanced technology such as
the multiple bus for each hard drive vs. SCSI drives all going thru same
bus. All in all if the entire Dell business is willing to stake so much
confidence in the new technology musn't it be for a good reason? Up to
now I was a stickler for SCSI but this is starting to make me think...
