How about call a simple batch file from usrlogon.cmd that looks for the
folder or ini file, and if it is there, deletes it. Right after that
the application will start, and you say it will create the file with the
correct server name if the ini doesn't already exist.

Outwardly a tidier solution, but unfortunately the app seems to write a
'one
off' text string next to the server name - not sure what effect simply
changing the machine name would have. Using policy to prevent the ini
file
from roaming still seems the best way to go.

I'd probably handle this by writing a script that runs during logon.
The
script would look for the folder/ini file, and, if it exists, read the
ini file looking for the server's name. If the ini file has a name
that's different from the current server's name, rewrite it.

Subject: [THIN] Roaming profile

Environment - Citrix Metaframe XPe on Win 2K SP3

I have a problem with a nasty little application that insists on
writing
a folder containing an ini file into each Citrix users profile when
first run. Unfortunately the ini file contains a reference to the
server
name, and as we use roaming profiles and load balanced servers, this
causes a problem if the user subsequently logs into a different server
-
the app refuses to behave as the ini file entry and machine name don't
match....

I'm aware you can use group policy to redirect My documents etc to
another location, but is there some way of excluding a specific named
folder from a users roaming profile? This would force the app to
create
a new ini file on each server it is run from.

Thanks in advance

David Lee
