These would be the keys for Office 2k that set the default directories
and paths so that when the user hits file open in Word it will default
to this location

I've had a look under this key.. but can't see any value that has
anything to do with the default save location. Is this written by
default or something that has to be created ?

You can control the default locations the word,excel...etc uses by
modifing HKCU/Software/Microsoft/officexxx
