Hi Steve,
 
MSDE is fine for both if you use the Office XP generaic form of MSDE.
There's a cute public domain MSDECFG access front end that let's you do
things like backup/restore databases, change the MSDE security mode etc that
provides the management core for MSDE.

Keep in mind that Citrix now provides a configured installer of MSDE on the
Metaframe 3.0 install CD, however, I don't know if it would work with RM
because it seems to be hardcoded to a default database name for MF.

for the DS but it should work with RM as well...
