No...there are no .ini files. It's a .config file instead. Yeh...I was
thinking about hacking the exe. What sort of hex editor would you
recommend?

Cheers,
Jeremy

Hello there,

Does the app use any ini file or registry entries to reference the config
file?

If not, have you had a look at the exe using a hex editor to see if a
reference to the config file is held in there ?

In the past i have had some success simply by using a hex editor to modify
exes where a developer is no longer on site and noone else has a clue.

AIS is very nice and would definately help you though.

Regards

Subject: [THIN] Redirecting a unique config file (not an ini) to the users
home drive

Hi All,

I'm having a bad brain day, and can't think of a way around this issue.

My client has a program called "program.exe". When it runs, it expects a
config file called "program.config" to be in the same folder as the
executable. This seems to be hard coded. The config file holds user
specific information, which is why I'm trying to redirect it to the users
home drive. I'm not sure how I can get this to work in a multiuser
environment.

Given that we are using PS4.0, I can always create an application isolation
environment, but I wanted to try an keep this as simple as possible.

This program only has to be run by 16 different groups of people, with each
group needing a different config file, so I guess that I could even install
it 16 time. It's not such a big footprint.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers.

 Kind regards,
