They are all done, only lose about 15 minutes of downtime. Being a 24x7 shop, if we staggered the reboots, user 1 gets on server1. Gets knocked off for reboot of server 1, load balancing puts him on server 3, we eventually reboot server 3, a users could lose more time getting knocked off of servers throughout a night/day/week, than with a simple all in one reboot. Load balancing would not give you 24x7 uptime, when server 1 needs a reboot, those users must get off of it, and go to another. Then they get booted from that one, etc., etc. -----Original Message----- From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Louis Pereira Sent: Monday, November 15, 2004 7:14 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Reboot Schedule I agree with Stephen Kuenzli, what is the benefit to rebooting all the servers at the same time? >>We do it weekly, Sun. nights, all 60 servers at once. If you had to reboot, wouldn't you want to spread out the reboot schedule over the week? The load balancing would give you 24/7 uptime.
