Try EventSentry Light (the free version) from Netikus

http://www.netikus.net/products_downloads.html

It sends you the event log you want by SMTP.
(it runs as a service using very few resources)

I currently use Event Watch NT (the predecessor of Event Sentry)
Which is a free fully functional version.

They tooked it off their site, but I can send it to you off list if you want
;)

Anyone have any recomendations on an event log maonitor that will dowlod
event logs from the servers filter and alert based on certain cirtieria? I
have found a bunc but nothing within a doable price range. They all seem
very expensive. Any recomendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
