That's ok. I'll give that a whirl. What a PITA. -----Original Message----- From: John Price [mailto:JPrice@xxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Thursday, February 27, 2003 2:39 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: QuickBooks Pro 2000 I had the same thing happen, twice. I couldn't find a vix, so I saved the data files, then uninstalled completely. Then, manually deleted the quickbooks folder, then manually deleted the quickbooks entrys in the registry, HKLM_Software I believe is all. On reinstall, I even put it in a different location just to be safe, and it worked. Sorry I didn't have an easier fix. John >>> gabek@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 02/27/03 01:33PM >>> All, I'm really hoping someone out there has seen this and knows of a (hopefully easy) fix. We're running QuickBooks Pro 2000 and sometime in the past month it quit working. Rather than telling me about it at the time, the users waited until they needed it again - tomorrow, of course. When launching QB, the splash screen appears, promptly disappears. That's all there is to it. I went and looked in the event log, and there was an error in there that looks rather ominous. The error is as follows: Application popup: QuickBooks Pro: qbw32.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x026be6ce" referenced memory at "0x00000005". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program So far, I've reinstalled QB, reinstalled Win2k SP2 (we have Peachtree too, and if I install SP3, it will break Peachtree printing), and reinstalled IE6 SP1. I've tried running the app from the console, from RDP, from MetaFrame, and as all sorts of different users - just in case. I know the error doesn't really lend to a permissions problem, but what the heck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
