See: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ProfilesDirectory which is (rather fortuitously a REG_EXPAND_SZ ;-)), which means you should be able to change the default on an ongoing basis. Not exactly sure what would happen to individual profiles, already have keys under ProfileList, 'cos I've never actually had to do it in anger.
