We don't use thin clients but when I have printers that will not auto
create I create a terminal session for the user and manually add the
printer so it is now in their profile.

You didn't mention how big this place was - if it was screwy maybe they
did a lot of stuff manually.

I just checked and nothing like that. The logon script that is assigned
in user manager is to assign network drives. No printers.

Is anything running in usrlogon.cmd on the server that might be
assigning the printer; i.e., defprint? or does the user have a login
script configured in User Manager and does it call something related to
printing?

Is that with NT or 2000? I believe this is still mainly on NT.

We do it via secrity so all staff based in location1 are in a group.=20
The we assign that group to the printer. =20

Hi everyone,

I just started at a new company and their network is very screwy. It's a
mix of Win2000 and NT with everyone using Metaframe 1.8 with Neo thin
clients.
I've pretty much figured out everything except for printing. I'm trying
to figure out how a user is getting assigned their default printer when
they logon. I've created a test user and logged on, but when I go to the
printers section, it's empty. This leads me to believe there is a policy
somewhere?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! I'm familiar with
Metaframe XP and assigning printers via the console, but can't remember
how 1.8 does it.

Thanks,
Matt
