Also if your on R03, have a look at PSE400R03W2K3059. Ive started testing it today, as it contains the following fix Autocreated printers created using the legacy naming style might not be deleted when a session is terminated. The issue occurs if the Print Spooler and Citrix Print Manager Service restart while a session is active on the server. This is possible for us as we use the old style naming convention, and we also have our spooler/print manager set to restart on crashing, so we never quite know when they crash. Initial testing has been positive. ----- Original Message ---- From: Cathy Campbell <Cathy.Campbell@xxxxxxx> To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2007 10:27:46 PM Subject: [THIN] Re: Printers not autocreating Thanks Andy for the reply….I implemented a couple of your suggestions, but can not set up a reboot schedule at this time, due to international users. What's been happening to us is a users printers wouldnt uninstall when they logged off, so when they logged back onto the same server, it wouldnt install a new printer as the old printer was still there. We did a few things to make it a bit better, but we still get it now and again 1. change Citrix Print Manager service to run as local system rather than the citrix sma user (this is very handy as it allows you to delete a printer on the fly, so long as you have the correct MTA flag set in the registry) 2. switch off RDP printer mapping 3. implement a reboot schedule of the servers fortnightly Only other thing I do now is have a quick look at the servers in the morning and delete any printers that havent been unistalled from the day before. Not ideal, but it works for us at the moment. We are currently reviewing whether to go R03 with some of the post R03 hotfixes. I'll post back if we ever get it resolved Andy ----- Original Message ---- From: Cathy Campbell <Cathy.Campbell@xxxxxxx> To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, July 13, 2007 10:35:26 PM Subject: [THIN] Printers not autocreating Our farm is MPS 4.0 and all the servers in the farm are W2K3. We are experiencing an ongoing, intermittent problem on one of our servers where printers do not autocreate for our remote users. Has anyone experienced this problem? We are using the UPD on all servers. It happens to all printer types (HP, Dell, Brother, etc). Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any assistance would be appreciated.
